This initial step to becoming a yoga instructor is just the beginning of a journey for students. Led by our instructors, they will travel a path to enlightenment that will prepare them to share what they have learned with their own students someday. Our instructors have followed different paths to becoming yoga instructors but they followed the same path of learning you are about to embark on. Each has received training and has attained varying level of certification. Each comes from a different world view to embrace their role as instructor and is looking forward to working with each new class During the 200-hour teacher training, which will be spread out over a four month period so that as you complete each lesson and course you can also practice what you have learned to deepen your understanding. As with any other educational process, you are encouraged to ask questions as this will not only help you to learn but will also assist our instructors in teaching you better. Our class sizes are small, consisting of no more than 12 people per class. By keeping our class sizes small we can provide more focused education for each student. Additionally, the small class size allows for the learning experience in our beautiful teaching environment to be more enriching as each student will have a greater feeling of space and freedom.

All of the standard asanas are broken down and taught in this section, starting from the feet to the top of your head. Standing, kneeling, seated, prone, supine and inverted poses will be explained and experienced in great depth. You will learn the anatomy and body mechanics in each pose, as well as proper alignment, adjustments and how your specific body type may differ from another’s.
Learn the principles of how to instruct a Vinyasa Flow sequence. This section will include linking your breath with body movement, timing, pacing, music and considerations.
This dynamic style of yoga will show you how to make yoga accessible for everyone. Precise alignments and adjustments will be taught using yoga props such as straps, blocks, blankets, bolsters, chairs, and more.
This section reveals the miracle of your physical body. The various body systems will be taught, including the skeletal and muscular systems and how they pertain to your yoga practice and teaching your classes.
Ayurveda, the “science of life,” is the holistic alternative science from India, and is more than 5,000 years old. It is believed to be the oldest healing science as well as the most holistic or comprehensive medical system available. Some methods used in Ayurveda are herbs, foods, aromas, gems, colors, yoga, mantras, lifestyle and more.

Restorative Yoga focuses on deeply resting and revitalizing the physical body by providing support and comfort. These poses help trigger the parasympathetic nervous system, which is vital for maintaining a balance in the body. Various props such as bolsters, blankets, straps, blocks and eye pillows will be used. We will also incorporate the use of 100% therapeutic grade essential oils to help relieve stress, calm the nervous system, open the heart to joy and connect with your inner light. In this workshop you will learn some of the basic restorative poses and how to teach them in a classroom setting.
Yoga Nidra is an investigative inner journey that takes the practitioner beyond limiting beliefs and conditioning, so that a contented life, free of conflict, anxiety, fear, dissatisfaction, and suffering can be lived. In its ultimate form, Yoga Nidra is used to unravel the sacred mystery of life and reveal the secret of enlightenment. This weekend workshop will include:
- A power point presentation explaining the science of Yoga Nidra and how it works.
- Several meditation practice sessions – How to teach Yoga Nidra in a group or privates sessions.
Chair yoga is a practice that multiple populations can benefit from. During this program you will learn how to modify a typical hatha yoga class so that it can be performed from a chair.
- Learn what populations can benefit the most – Learn how to modify poses for a chair practice
- Learn how to modify within each class to accommodate various levels of function – Experience a mini chair yoga class – Learn how to sequence and plan a chair yoga class and suggestions for implementing a class in your area
In this workshop you will learn how to use yoga to help cancer survivors reduce the discomfort from side effects of treatment and increase the health and wellness of these students after their treatments/ surgeries are complete. This training includes:
- Signs & symptoms, diagnosis, types of cancers and risk factors – Treatment options and their side effects
- How yoga can assist in regaining a healthy lifestyle – Teaching considerations with a greater emphasis on working with breast cancer survivors – Beneficial asana, pranayama, simple vinyasa sequences to move lymph, modifications and adjustments for the safety of the student – Emotional aspects and planning classes
Learn the mystery of the subtle body. Is it real? Can you actually feel your soul? The subtle body is the energy body which gives rise to the physical. It holds the deeper aspects of mind, our gifts, spiritual wisdom, energy centers or chakras, meridians, breath patterns and more. This training will open your mind to a more expansive view of life.
You will finally learn how to breathe like the yogis did thousands of years ago. Through various stresses in life, we can develop poor posture and faulty breathing patterns which restrict life force and spiritual development. Diaphragmatic breathing will be taught along with several other yogic breaths to calm the body, balance the body/mind and open to your inner wisdom.
These ancient texts are the foundation of our yoga practice. They teach us how to live a life free of pain and suffering and the tools, techniques and practices to reach liberation. Some texts used will be Bhagavad Gita and Yoga Sutras Of Patanjali.
Experience a live devotional kirtan at Yoga Darshana Center with one of our brilliant singers and musicals. This sacred evening of call and response singing will open your heart, give clear vision and allow for transformations to take place. You will learn how to bring the love and compassion you experienced into the world.
During this segment you will learn about the differences in the Anatomy and Physiology of children compared to that of an adult, and what precautions to follow. You will learn how to structure a class for the level of children you will be teaching.
After completing your training, your will need some direction on how to start your new life in yoga. We have the tools to get you started in the best direction.
This section of the program will be towards the end of the training. You will be teaching in a classroom setting with your lovely classmates. This is where you will start to embody all of the teachings you learned in basic training including how to prepare a lesson plan, setting up the class, instructing the class, what to look for in your students and making the connection.
